Biography

Thomas Hutton lived during the early years of British colonial rule in India, spending his life in Calcutta where he was ultimately laid to rest in South Park Street Cemetery. His lifespan of eighteen years, from 1806 to 1824, encompassed a formative period in the city's history as it developed as a major center of British influence and commerce.

Though his years were few, Thomas's burial in one of Calcutta's most historic cemeteries places him among the many individuals whose lives contributed to the colonial narrative of 19th century India. His grave stands as a quiet reminder of the generations who lived and died far from their homeland.
