Biography

Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) was a Founding Father, author of the Declaration of Independence, and the third President of the United States, whose devotion to liberty shaped the new republic.

Retiring to Monticello, he continued to study architecture, agriculture, and science while fostering the University of Virginia, and he is interred at the estate that remained his lifelong home.
