Biography
Thomas Joseph Shahan rose through the Catholic Church to serve as rector of what became the Catholic University of America, expanding academic programs and fostering scholarship in church history while also supporting the construction of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
He dedicated his life to documenting church history and promoting devotion, efforts that were widely recognized throughout his career until his passing in 1932.
