Biography

Thomas Koschat, born in 1845, dedicated his talents to the preservation and celebration of Austrian song. As a composer and ardent proponent of vocal tradition, he wove Carinthian folk melodies into refined choral arrangements, sharing the warmth of his homeland through ensembles he led and toured throughout Europe.

His Koschat Quartet and later concerts became synonymous with Viennese conviviality, and though he passed in 1914, his harmonious blend of folk spirit and cultivated harmony continues to echo in Austria’s musical memory.
