Biography

Tim Gidal (1909-1996) captured the fledgling Israeli scene with a lens that balanced documentary rigor and artistic sensitivity, photographing landscapes, markets, and the faces of immigrants shaping a new homeland. His work preserved the spirit of neighborhoods and the light of everyday life.

His archives remain a visual testament to the country’s early decades, and he was laid to rest on Har HaMenuchot, where fellow artists remember his quiet dedication.
