Biography

Timothy Demonbreun answered the call of the frontier, leaving Montreal for the wilderness of the Tennessee country, where he built trading posts, served as a scout for the Revolution, and earned a reputation as one of the earliest residents of what would become Nashville.

He brought together Native American knowledge and European trade, providing steady hospitality and support to new settlers, and today his legacy is remembered near Carney Cemetery as a bridge between cultures.
