Biography

Titian Peale carried forward the Peale family tradition of blending art and science, producing exquisite paintings and illustrations of birds, insects, and other wildlife that advanced nineteenth-century natural history.

He took part in scientific surveys, shared his field sketches with museums and learned societies, and encouraged a wider appreciation for the beauty and accuracy of field observation.
