Turner Gustavus Morehead

Biography

Turner Gustavus Morehead (1814-1892) answered the call to service as a leader in the Pennsylvania militia, guiding volunteer regiments with both courage and compassion during trying campaigns. His dedication to the Union cause reflected a belief that steady leadership could carry communities through hardship.

After the war he continued to champion veterans’ welfare and civic improvement projects, leaving echoes of his resolve near his resting place at Mount Peace Cemetery.
