Biography

Twm o'r Nant, born Thomas Edwards, was a celebrated Welsh poet and dramatist who became one of the most significant literary figures of 18th-century Wales. His works in the Welsh language earned him considerable renown, and he was instrumental in developing Welsh theatrical traditions during his lifetime.

He lived from 1739 to 1810, witnessing and contributing to a flourishing period of Welsh cultural expression. His legacy endured long after his death, and he remains remembered as a pivotal figure in Welsh literary history, commemorated by his chest tomb at the Church of St Marcella.
