Biography
Umetsuji Shunshō was a kannushi, or Shinto priest, who served with dedication during the late Edo period. His role as a religious practitioner placed him at the heart of spiritual life in his community.
Based at Kōdai-ji Temple, Umetsuji Shunshō maintained the sacred traditions and rituals essential to Shinto practice. His long life spanned a transformative era, during which he preserved and transmitted the spiritual heritage entrusted to his care.
