Biography
Vaike Hang dedicated her career to illuminating Estonia’s past, drawing on archival treasures and oral histories to bring depth to the stories of her homeland. Her scholarship combined rigorous research with a gift for narrative, making history accessible to students and the wider public.
She mentored historians with patience, encouraging them to listen to diverse voices and to honor memory with humility. She is remembered at Old St. John’s Cemetery, her contributions continuing to inform Estonia’s understanding of itself.
