Val Parnell reshaped the world of British variety as an impresario who championed stars and staged lavish shows, bringing the London Palladium and other stages to new heights.

His eye for talent and daring programmes made him a driving force behind some of the city’s most memorable entertainments, while colleagues recalled a man who never forgot the people behind the glitter, and his final resting place at Golders Green Crematorium is a testament to his lifelong devotion to the theatre.
