Biography
Valcour Aimé, born in 1798 in Louisiana, rose to lead the sugar plantations along the Mississippi River and took great care of the estates around St. James Parish. His neighbors respected him for overseeing the complex work of cane production with a steady hand and for believing that the land and the people who tended it belonged to the same estate.
He also supported the Catholic churches and schools that gave meaning to daily life in the parishes, and his family plot now rests among the honored stones of Saint Louis Cemetery No. 3.
