Biography
Born in 1822, Van Eps Young devoted his life to nurturing the families and neighborhoods around him, guiding them through the changes of a young nation. He was a familiar presence in civic gatherings and lent steady counsel to friends and neighbors, weaving a legacy of dependability.
Even as the years passed, he kept a generous spirit and ordinary joys, leaving behind a circle of kin and acquaintances grateful for his encouragement. After his passing in 1895, the community laid him to rest at Oakhill Cemetery, where many continue to recall his calming influence.
