Biography

Varvara Lyashenko (1917–1943) was a Russian aircraft pilot and a remarkable figure in Soviet aviation history. Born in 1917, she pursued a career in aviation during a period when women pilots were pioneering new frontiers in the Soviet Union, demonstrating exceptional courage and skill.

Lyashenko's service during World War II exemplified the dedication of Soviet women to the defense of their nation. She made the ultimate sacrifice in 1943 at the age of 26, and was laid to rest at Vsesvyatskoye cemetery in Krasnodar, where she is honored for her bravery and pioneering contributions to Soviet aviation.
