Biography
Władysław Kessler was a Polish figure whose life in the nineteenth century coincided with a period of significant cultural and political activity among the Polish diaspora in Paris. Born in 1835, he came of age during a time when many Poles sought opportunities and community in the French capital.
Kessler's death in 1867 and burial in Montmartre Cemetery reflect his place within the Polish community of Paris. His grave stands among those of numerous compatriots who found in the cemetery a final resting place that honored their heritage and connections to their adopted city.
