Wal Handley
1902–1941 (age 39)
Biography
Wal Handley, born in 1902, became one of Britain's most daring racing drivers, winning multiple Isle of Man TT races and setting records with a calm yet fearless style that inspired fellow riders and fans alike, often returning to the track after serious accidents and sharing tips with younger riders to help them race safely.
He gave of himself beyond racing by mentoring new competitors and supporting charitable rides, so when he died in 1941 the motorsport community remembered him with respect and laid him to rest at Yardley Cemetery.
