Walter Kerfoot

Walter Kerfoot (1743–1804) established himself in Warrington as a lawyer of quiet rigour, offering measured counsel to merchants and landed families alike and interpreting the law with a practical concern for the bustling town.

He also lent his talents to civic boards, sought to keep the markets and courts fair, and encouraged the charitable work that steadied the local community, leaving behind a reputation for fairness when he died.
