Walter R. Danforth

Biography

Walter R. Danforth was a figure of the early American republic, born in 1787 during the founding era of the United States. He lived through the nation's early decades, witnessing the establishment of American institutions and the westward expansion that characterized the nineteenth century.

Danforth passed away in 1861 at the age of seventy-four, just as the nation entered its greatest constitutional crisis. He was interred at Swan Point Cemetery, where his memory is preserved as part of the historical record of his era.
