Biography

Wes Westrum, born in 1922, earned acclaim as a catcher for the New York Giants and later as a manager and coach, beloved for a fierce competitive spirit tempered by integrity. He was a three-time All-Star who anchored the team’s defense and later shared his baseball wisdom through many seasons.

Following his playing career he remained a mentor to young athletes, offering encouragement and honest advice, and he always pointed to Silver Creek Cemetery’s serene grounds when reflecting on how grateful he was for the community’s support.
