Biography
Wilhelm Kaufmann was a skilled painter and varnisher whose craftsmanship contributed to the decorative and protective arts of his time. His professional work reflected the traditional trades that sustained German artisanal communities throughout the early twentieth century.
Kaufmann's life was cut short by the horrors of the Nazi regime. He perished at Sachsenhausen concentration camp in 1946, a victim of one of history's darkest chapters.
