Biography

Wilhelmine von Buttlar was born in 1767 and became associated with Ballenstedt, an important cultural center in Anhalt-Bernburg. She lived during a period of considerable intellectual and cultural activity in German territories, engaging with the ideas and movements of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Wilhelmine's life reflected the experiences of educated women in German aristocratic and intellectual circles during the Enlightenment and early Romantic periods.
