Willem Lengton
1917–1944 (age 27)
Biography
Born in 1917, Willem Lengton grew into a thoughtful young man who cherished the sense of community in his homeland. He nurtured a strong belief in liberty and fairness that would shape the choices he made once the Netherlands fell under occupation.
When the time came to act, Lengton joined the resistance, offering support to fellow citizens, relaying vital information, and standing firm in the face of growing danger. His courage led to his arrest in 1944, and though he was executed that year, his memory lives on at the Dutch Honorary Cemetery Bloemendaal, where he rests among others who fought for freedom.
