Biography

Willem Malkus was a beloved mathematician and longtime professor at MIT whose work helped shape modern understanding of fluid dynamics and natural convection. He guided generations of students through complex problems with clarity, translating abstract theory into insights that benefitted engineers, oceanographers, and scientists around the globe.

In later years he cherished the camaraderie of the Woods Hole research community, mentoring young scholars and delighting in the rhythms of coastal life that now surround his resting place in Woods Hole Village Cemetery.
