Biography

William Bassett Chinnery (1766–1834) was a British resident of Paris during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He lived through a transformative period in European history, witnessing the French Revolution and the Napoleonic era while maintaining his presence in the French capital.

Chinnery's life spanned the transition from the ancien régime to the modern era, and he chose to make Paris his home during these turbulent times. He was buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery, one of Paris's most prestigious burial grounds, reflecting his established position in Parisian society.
