Biography
William Bernhardt Tegetmeier, born in 1816, was a noted naturalist whose expertise on poultry and aviculture made him a trusted voice to both farmers and gentlemen naturalists.
A contemporary and supporter of Charles Darwin, he penned numerous essays on the habits of bees, poultry, and other domestic animals, remaining active in scientific circles until his death in 1912; he now rests in East Finchley Cemetery.
