Biography

William Claytor broke barriers as one of the earliest African-American mathematicians to earn a doctorate, later dedicating himself to teaching and mentoring students in the mathematical sciences.

His research, coupled with tireless advocacy for greater inclusion, helped pave the way for future scholars and is remembered fondly at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
