Biography

William D. Kelley, born in 1825, rose to national prominence as a U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania whose speeches championed labor rights and equality. He believed that the prosperity of a nation depended on the dignity of every worker and took each opportunity to defend the working class on the floor of Congress.

In retirement he remained active in the life of his home city, mentoring young leaders and sustaining friendships grounded in mutual respect. He now lies in Trinity Episcopal Cemetery, remembered as a tireless advocate for fairness and the common good.
