William H. Wadsworth
1821–1893 (age 72)
Lawyer and U.S. Representative
Biography
William H. Wadsworth, born in 1821, built a lifetime of service on the foundations of law and public duty, answering his state’s call as a Congressman at the outset of the Civil War. He brought a steady, reasoned voice to debates in Washington, and he returned home convinced that Kentucky’s future depended on bridging differences rather than widening them.
Back in Maysville he offered counsel to younger lawyers, lent his experience to civic projects, and stayed close to veterans who sought a peaceful path forward. He is interred at Maysville Cemetery, where his devotion to the rule of law lives on.
