Biography
William Henry Scott lived an exceptionally long life, born in 1840 and surviving into the twentieth century. His nearly century-long existence allowed him to witness the entire arc of America's development from the antebellum period through the early twentieth century, including the Civil War and its aftermath.
Scott passed away in 1937 at the remarkable age of 97, having lived through nearly all of the nineteenth century and into the modern era. He was laid to rest at Union Cemetery, where his long and full life is commemorated.
