Born in 1831, William Henry Thomas Sylvester pursued medical training and became a military physician whose calm presence and steady hand comforted soldiers wounded in the field.
He saw service across the British Empire, bringing compassion to those far from home and earning the respect of men under his care, and his final rest now lies at Paignton Cemetery.
