Biography

William Herbert Waring (1885-1918) was a British soldier who spent much of the Great War serving alongside his comrades on the Western Front. His leadership in trying conditions inspired those around him, and he was known for his courage under fire.

He paid the ultimate price in 1918, and he rests in Sainte-Marie cemetery's Commonwealth sections, where his sacrifice continues to be honored by visitors who reflect on the service of his generation.
