Biography
William Hulton was a Lancashire landowner and magistrate whose responsibilities at St Mary the Virgin, Deane kept him close to the needs of the local people during a time of rapid industrial change.
He is remembered for steadying the parish through those challenges, providing support for church improvements and offering sober counsel in the vestry as the community adapted to new wealth and new worries.
