William Lewis Maury (1813–1878) cherished the natural beauty of the shores where he lived and worked, finding delight in the steady motion of the sea and the calm of the woods. He welcomed friends warmly and shared stories that reflected the rich heritage of his family.

He rests now at Lakewood Cemetery, where visitors can still feel the peaceful spirit of a life rooted in reflection and fellowship.
