Biography
William Lyne Wilson, born in 1843, studied law and soon emerged as a thoughtful voice in West Virginia politics, serving in the U.S. House of Representatives before assuming the national post as Postmaster General under President Grover Cleveland.
In that role he championed better service for rural communities, defended a nonpartisan civil service, and spoke passionately about the need for government to move with both efficiency and care for the people it served, leaving behind a reputation for integrity; he is interred at Edge Hill Cemetery.
