William M. Singerly built his reputation as a daring publisher who brought timely, vigorous reporting to Philadelphia readers through the Philadelphia Times, a venture he shaped with imagination, high standards, and a willingness to confront the major topics of the day.
He also invested earnings back into the community, supporting veterans, aid societies, and ambitious civic projects, and after his death in 1898 he was laid to rest in Laurel Hill Cemetery, where his name endures among the city's benefactors.
