Biography

William McComb was born in 1828 and rose to the rank of brigadier general in the Confederate Army, leading men through the trials of the American Civil War and earning a reputation for courage no matter the odds. He saw action in many of the conflict's fiercest campaigns, always placing the welfare of his soldiers at the center of his command.

After the war he returned to civilian life with a commitment to reconciliation, applying his talents to business and the quiet responsibilities of family and church, never forgetting the cost of the years he had spent in uniform.
