1823–1875 (age 52)

Biography

William Oxenham answered the call to military service with steady resolve, embracing the rigors of duty wherever he was posted and earning the trust of officers and fellow soldiers alike. His years in uniform were marked by faithful attention to the needs of others and an unfailing sense of responsibility for the men under his charge.

After returning to Exeter, he carried that same steadiness into civilian life, sharing stories of distant marches while finding comfort in family and the familiar lanes near Exeter Higher Cemetery. He is remembered for the calm leadership that never sought accolade but still inspired confidence.
