William Paddock

Biography

William Paddock, born in 1832, settled in Markesan to raise his family amidst Wisconsin’s rolling fields, taking joy in tending the soil and in tending to the people around him. He served on school and town boards, believing that good schools and open conversation were the surest investments in a rural future.

Neighbors recall his readiness to share a harvest or a helping hand, and his home was a place where folks could talk about dreams and disappointments alike. He is remembered at Markesan Memorial Cemetery for anchoring his community with steady faithfulness and hospitality.
