William Petty, 2nd Earl of Shelburne, born in 1737, was a statesman and Prime Minister whose policies of moderation and commerce were carried out with a respect for the Church of All Saints, High Wycombe.
He used his influence to foster improvement in the parish, encourage education, and defend civil liberties, leaving a legacy of public service when he died in 1805.
