Biography

William R. Arnold (1872-1929) devoted his career to educating young people at Phillips Academy, nurturing both their intellects and their character. He combined scholarly depth with a keen sense of fairness, ensuring that each student felt seen and challenged.

His colleagues admired the patience with which he guided debates, and parents trusted him to help their children find direction. He is buried in the Phillips Academy Cemetery, where his influence on generations of learners is still recalled.
