Biography
William Russell traded widely and managed his mercantile ventures from near St Philip's Cathedral, yet he also devoted his resources to the wellbeing of that growing parish, underwriting charities and supporting the needs of sailors and apprentices.
He died in 1818, leaving a reputation as a generous benefactor who balanced commerce with civic responsibility.
