William Sooy Smith

Biography

William Sooy Smith (1830–1916) answered the call of his time with courage, serving as a military leader during the Civil War and afterward lending his energy to civic causes. His calm determination steadied others during turbulent days, and he remained engaged with veterans and neighbors alike.

He is laid to rest at Forest Home Cemetery, where his example of service continues to encourage future generations to act with honor.
