William T. Shorey

Biography

William T. Shorey, born 1859, answered the call of the sea with a calm courage that comforted the crews he led on long voyages. Respectful of every hand on deck, he kept his shipmates safe and shared with them a deep sense of pride in their work.

When he died in 1919, he was laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery, where his sailors and friends remember his unwavering command and kindness. His life is celebrated as a testament to the dignity of every voyage.
