William Thomas Hamilton

Biography

William Thomas Hamilton, born in 1822, served Maryland as governor from 1880 to 1884, promoting education, internal improvements, and balanced budgets before moving on to the U.S. Senate.

He continued to advocate for the Chesapeake Bay, transportation, and agricultural interests as an elder statesman, and he is interred at Mountain View Cemetery where his commitment to Maryland endures.
