Biography
William Thornton Montgomery entered the world in 1843 and devoted himself to the cause of education and civic order, helping to sustain the pioneering town of Mound Bayou through the challenges of Reconstruction.
He worked alongside neighbors to strengthen schools, churches, and businesses, leaving a stable foundation for future generations before being laid to rest in Mound Bayou Cemetery.
