William Van Mildert

Biography

William Van Mildert (1765–1836) served as the Bishop of Durham and was among the last of the Prince-Bishops, overseeing Durham Cathedral with a quiet dignity that reflected both his pastoral care and administrative acumen. His deep commitment to the Anglican tradition found expression in sermons and public addresses that sought to reconcile spiritual care with civic responsibility.
