Biography
William Vocke was known among his neighbors as a reliable hand, attentive to the needs of family, friends, and co-workers during decades of change in northern California. He took pride in craftsmanship and in sharing the lessons he learned with younger generations seeking to build their own livelihoods.
He carried that devotion through to the end of his days, and when he died in 1907 he was mourned at Mountain View Cemetery as someone who quietly shaped the character of his community through consistent care and honest work.
