Wilmot Cave-Browne-Cave
1862–1923 (age 61)
Biography
Wilmot Cave-Browne-Cave belonged to the long line of the Cave-Browne-Caves who quietly tended the lands and villages of Stretton en le Field, and he himself carried on that care with calm diligence. He maintained the parish traditions, supported the modest school, and ensured that the lanes and hedgerows of the region reflected the care of generations before him.
Those who knew him remember his steady faith and the way he could always be counted on to sit with the vicar in the cool of the churchyard while sharing news of the harvests, and they laid him to rest in 1923 within sight of St Michael's Church, a fitting place for such a faithful steward.
