Biography

Wyndham Lewis (1882–1957) was a writer, painter, and critic whose fierce intellect and avant-garde works left a lasting mark on modernism. As the founder of the Vorticist movement and author of influential novels and essays, he championed bold experimentation and sharp cultural analysis.

Even in controversy his dedication to artistic innovation remained constant, and his cremation at Golders Green Crematorium marked the passing of a formidable and singular voice in twentieth-century letters.
